Where are you located?
We're in Busua, Ahanta District, Western Region, Ghana about 255km from Accra along the road.
What is the nearest airport?
Kotoka International Airport in Accra is the main international entry point. Domestic flights also run to Takoradi Airport, around 40km from Busua.
How do I get from Accra?
How to get here:
• Accra Airport / Busua: 255 km, 7 hours by Taxi or Minivan
• Accra Airport / Takoradi: 40 minutes by plane
• Takoradi / Busua: 36 km, 1 hour by Taxi or Minivan
Is there transport from the airport?
We can help arrange a driver from Accra or Takoradi airport on request. Contact us in advance and we'll sort it out.
Do I need a visa for Ghana?
Most nationalities require a visa to enter Ghana. Apply online via the Ghana Immigration Service website before travel. We strongly advise applying at least 3-4 weeks in advance, and no later than 2 weeks before departure. Check your country's Ghana embassy for specific requirements.
What vaccines do I need?
Yellow fever vaccination is required to enter Ghana. Hepatitis A, Typhoid and Malaria prophylaxis are strongly recommended. Consult your local travel clinic at least 4–6 weeks before departure.
Where can I get travel vaccines?
Visit a certified travel clinic in your country before departure. Search 'travel vaccination clinic' in your city for the nearest option.
Is Ghana safe to visit?
Ghana is one of the most politically stable countries in West Africa and is widely considered safe for tourists. Normal travel precautions apply.
Is the beach nearby?
Busua Beach is just a few steps from the lodge. You can walk there in under a minute.
Do you have a restaurant?
Yes, our restaurant serves fresh meals on demand including local Ghanaian dishes and international options.
What's the check-in time?
Check-in is from 2pm. Early check-in may be available on request. Check-out is by 11am.
Do you have Wi-Fi?
Yes, Wi-Fi is available as an extra paid service.
Do you offer breakfast?
Yes, breakfast is available as an extra paid feature. Our restaurant also serves meals throughout the day.
Is there parking?
Yes, we have on-site parking available for guests arriving by car.
Can I bring pets?
Pets are allowed, but please contact us via our contact form or social media beforehand to make a request.
What is the closest big city?
Takoradi is the closest major city, approximately 40km from Busua. Accra, the capital, is around 255km away.
Are there ATMs nearby?
ATMs are available in Takoradi and other nearby towns. Mobile money (MTN Momo) is widely used across Ghana for everyday transactions.
What language is spoken?
English is the official language of Ghana and is widely spoken. Local languages include Ahanta and Fanti in the Western Region.
Do you have air conditioning?
Most rooms have air conditioning. Some rooms have ceiling fans only. Check the individual room details on our Rooms page.
Is there a swimming pool?
There isn't a pool on site, but a nearby resort has one. You can easily purchase a cheap day pass to use their swimming pool however long you want.
Can I surf at Busua?
Yes, Busua has surf breaks suitable for beginners. Local surf instructors are available. More advanced surfers can also visit nearby Princess Beach.
What activities are available?
Day trips to colonial forts like Elmina and Cape Coast, fishing, surfing, birdwatching, local market visits, and percussion lessons with local artists.
Is the water safe to drink?
We recommend drinking bottled water during your stay. Bottled water is available at the lodge.
What currency is used?
The Euro (€) is commonly used at our lodge. However, the Ghanaian Cedi (GH₵) and US Dollars are also accepted if needed.
What is the weather like?
Ghana has a tropical climate. Expect warm temperatures year round between 25–35°C. The main rainy season runs from April to June.
How far is the nearest hospital?
The nearest hospital is in Takoradi, approximately 40km away. Basic medical care is available in nearby towns.
Can I extend my stay?
Yes, subject to availability. Contact us directly and we will do our best to accommodate you.
Can I use my phone in Ghana?
Yes, Ghana has good 4G coverage in most areas including Busua. You can buy a local SIM card at the airport or in Takoradi for affordable data.
What is the time zone?
Ghana operates on GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) year round with no daylight saving time.
Can I drink alcohol in Ghana?
Yes, alcohol is widely available. Ghana has a vibrant local beer culture: Star, Club and Guinness Ghana are popular local brews.
What should I pack?
Light breathable clothing, sunscreen, insect repellent, and a yellow fever vaccination certificate. A power adaptor for UK-style plugs (Type G) is also useful.
Is English widely spoken?
Yes, English is the official language of Ghana and is spoken everywhere. You will have no difficulty communicating throughout the country.
